Five Musical Songs for Every Valentine’s Day Mood

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. And whether you’re single, dating, pining, or completely nonplussed, it’s hard to ignore that love and Instagram pictures of roses is all around us. So we’ve decided to embrace all of the Valentine’s Day feels with five different moods to get through this celebration of love.

1. For the romantics

Let’s face it, musical theatre does romantic love VERY WELL. And this song will make anyone who is or has been in love feel warm and fuzzy. What more can we say?

2. For those in lust

Giddy, gorgeous and gay, this is one of our all-time favourite songs for those in love and lust. Not many people are going to be experiencing first flirts and first times this lockdown, so here’s to all the new romances past and future!

3. For the heartbroken

If you’ve never been heartbroken before, Bernadette Peters is sure to rectify that in this next song (of course we had to go with her iconic version). We’ve definitely had a sob and a sing to this absolutely classic.

Not a Day Goes By, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG. By Stephen Sondheim & George Furth

4. For platonic lovers

Valentine’s Day isn’t just reserved for those experiencing romantic love (though it can feel that way sometimes). It’s also the day to celebrate the people in your life who you would go to the ends of the earth for. We love this song for just that reason…

5. For self-love

We could all do with a little self-love this Valentine’s Day! No, not that kind of self-love (well maybe). This is a certified banger for those who want to write a love letter to me, myself and I.
